Week 07/2024 sadness and frustration

The news that dissident Alexei Navalny is dead shocked and frustrated me. Terrible.

I used a blue/red/white color scheme, the colors of the Russian flag.
The dark look and black reflect sadness; likewise the tears.
But there are also brighter parts: hope that the death had meaning and that change will still happen at some point.
The mix of photo and oil painting was chosen to represent reality and feelings together, away from purely realistic photos.
The blue in the skin tones and the partly painterly picture style also consciously establish a reference to Expressionism.
