... and here is my top topic for week 29 of 2024, artistically implemented. New every Sunday.

Last week, numerous computers failed, presumably after installing a software update. This affected airports and hospitals, among others - flights and operations had to be cancelled.

This has once again shown me our dependence on global computer systems and their networking. How vulnerable is the networking?

AI and the associated rapid expansion of data centers and computer networks are making the risk of outages or attacks much, much greater.

In the picture I represent this by a net in front of a person that has developed tears or is in disarray. The people - symbolized by the serious-looking person - see the problem, but are entangled/trapped in the dense net.
